Beginners Krav Maga

 Beginners 8 week IKM course

At Combat FIT Krav Maga we conduct 8 week beginner IKM (Israeli Style Self Defense) courses throughout the year. These courses are open to women and men over 21 years of age who have passed our entry protocol and completed the foundations intro class.

Israeli Krav Maga (IKM) is the premier Reality Based Self Defense Training system available to civilians around the world. Unlike traditional Martial Arts, where a student typically trains and fights for a title or belt, Israeli Krav Maga is a Combat Art in which practitioners train and fight for their survival.

Our Beginners Krav Maga (קרב מגע) P1 and P2 courses follow the Integrated-Modern Krav Maga training protocols, developed and refined over the years by Israeli Krav Maga Experts. Civilians with the mental fortitude will experience intense training and conditioning thus preparing them for the reality of violence on the street. Safety is paramount but reality training always takes precedence.

Each beginner course is run by our own Chief Instructor, Bruce, a Combat Arts Subject Matter Technical Expert with over 25 years of experience and a KMNTC Certified Krav Maga Instructor, teaching since 2002.

In our beginner IKM 8 week course you will progress and advance through "foundational theoretical, technical and tactical" concepts of:

Basic Hand Defense Escapes from chokes, grabs and headlocksStick and rock use
Foundational kicks and strikesFirearm: Gun-Revolver principlesBasic Multiple Attacker drills

Interested in training in our 8 week Krav Maga course?

If you would like to start attending our IKM 8 week course, you must first request the 'Training Application' by calling us during our office hours. Once submitted and you are accepted to train, we can then reserve your spot in the scheduled "Foundations Seminar". Passing this screening process may grant you the opportunity to attend the foundations session and subsequent IKM courses. The above protocol may seem too exigent to some but, it maintains the integrity of the IKM program and the safety of its students. Note that only honest and humble individuals with strong moral character/ethos are accepted into the IKM training program.

Each advanced level workshop and seminar is run by our own Chief Instructor, Bruce, a Combat Arts Subject Matter Technical Expert with over 25 years of military combat arts experience and a KMNTC Certified Krav Maga Instructor, teaching since 2002.

Our advanced level Krav Maga students along with those currently serving in the military, CBP or in a UC capacity are continuously exposed to Krav Maga's weapons philosophy in these sessions.

In our Tactical Firearm workshops we cover: basic firearm operations, types of ammo, safety principles, foundational stances and weapons retention. Stress reloading drills and weapons malfunction protocols are also covered. Public shootings, Home invasion & Burglar response scenarios to include room clearing and partnered 'shoot, move & cover' drills are covered in different sessions.

At Combat F.I.T. we reiterate the duty to protect ourselves...and to protect the innocent in peril. Most informed Americans know about the 2nd amendment and our 'right to bear arms'... but are you clear on the U.S. Constitutions Pre-amble and the responsibility of personal protection.  If you have the inclination, read about the Federal Supreme Courts ruling on the right and responsibility of "Self Defense" by each individual in the U.S. by clicking here.

In our Edged Weapon Workshops, many of our CFC® students (Border Patrol Officers, ICE Agents and those LEO's working UC) see the lethality of an edged weapon encounter. They can attest to the dangers of the initial contact with multiple subjects and the possibility that this silent assassin would be used under 21 feet.  Our intense training and violent scenarios will condition you to survive the most brutal edged weapon attack involving multiple subjects using knives, swords or machetes.

       Krav Maga Levels of Training

Our Krav Maga program corresponds to the  international instructional standards for training civilian students at progressive practitioner levels. Practitioner level one or P1 is open to beginners with no experience in self defense.  P2: Moderate intensity training focusing on:

  • Ground defense and escapes

  • Takedowns, trips and throw tactics

P3: High intensity training focusing on:

  • Edged weapons (Knife-Machete) attacks

                       Krav Maga and Stress Training

Primarily developed in Israel by Grandmaster Imi Sde-Or in 1948, Krav Maga (Hebrew for Close Contact Combat) became the life saving Hand to Hand Fighting System of the entry level Israeli soldier (both women and men, ages 18 - 51). Over the years, this combat art has been further developed and refined for civilian use here in the States. Israeli Krav Maga incorporates effective and realistic self defense techniques that have all been battle tested.

Stress drills, fear management tactics, and functional conditioning exercises are all implemented in our training program to prepare us mentally and physically for life and death combat on the street. So, if you want to increase your self-confidence and obtain a great Functional Workout at the same time then consider one of our Israeli Krav Maga Combat Fit CFC® courses. Israeli Krav Maga (IKM) is based on the minds instinctive reaction to violent threats. The aggressive element of this combat art conditions the mind to engage a threat without hesitation and minimizes the natural fear through realistic training. Having this proper mindset can ensure your survival during the most violent encounters.

Stress Innoculation at Combat Fit Krav Maga

Our Krav Maga beginner classes are stressful in nature, designed to replicate the violence experienced during surprise assaults and encounters. Our students do not have to be strong physically but more so,  strong mentally. We are technical in our instruction and often 'test' our students under realistic environments that include training outside in the heat, cold and darkness.

Those selected to train in our programs will always be placed in uncomfortable stressful situations. Hence this program, to the average American, can be an extreme experience and is only recommended to those individuals who truly want to test and challenge their abilities in a safe yet challenging manner.

Stress and conditioning drills using core, plyometric, body weight and team exercises are all implemented to challenge and motivate participants. Leadership enhancement, confidence building obstacle courses, functional fitness drills and hand to hand basic defense tactics round out the IKM training.

            Law Enforcement and Krav Maga

Our focus here at Combat Fit is to train our LE students (mostly coming from DHS, CBP and DOC) in unarmed combat. While POST, requires that officers get eight hours of Defense tactics (DT) training quarterly or every two years, the unarmed component of training becomes a 'perishable skill'. Firearms training is the most scheduled and combatives training the most overlooked. Subject restraint, Weapons retention and use are all important factors in the "lethal force" continuum that we cover here at Combat Fit. In addition to the latter training, we often 'condition' our LE students to operate under extreme duress while unarmed. These humble individuals take the initiative to train with us and know that they must endure some of the most rigorous and unique conditioning methods. This with the understanding that this 'conditioning' will benefit them and their decision making skills on the street if they can not use their firearms. At combat fit, we train those LEO's to shift the mindset of relying on their sidearm to that of transitioning from a low level unarmed standpoint. Some of our LE students work undercover (UC) assignments; are correctional officers working in prisons, or they just understand that they may one day be off duty with their families and not carrying.

We often challenge our LE students to fight at close range with multiple subjects carrying edged weapons. Potential variables such as a weapon malfunctions and physical injuries are also added into the mix. If your schedule allows, consider a 'drop-in class' and make Krav Maga, one unique training option that will save your life.  Need proof... read this article.

Current LEO's and CBP please note that our Technical and Tactical Krav Maga courses present certain techniques that may infringe upon your departments tactical and training policies. Now, if decide to train with us here at Combat Fit Krav Maga and your work schedule varies, then consider doing a drop in class as your time permits. Please call our CFC® team to discuss details.

                   Leadership and Team Tactics

Our "Leadership Enhancement" program uses mission planning and team tactics to help individuals evolve into dynamic leaders, able to respond to situations while under duress.

Scheduled MKM seminars and workshops cover realistic training scenarios placing students in simulated life threatening situations while unarmed, injured or unable to attain a higher level of force option. The challenge is to motivate the future leader's response to threats with clear, aggressive and direct unarmed tactics and combative techniques until a transition to a higher force option can be attained.
